Sinai House was built in 1850 as a gentleman’s residence, for the Lord Mayor of London. It became a hotel in the 1930’s and a guest house in the 1960’s. We bought Sinai House in 2011 and have redecorated and updated all of the bedrooms and bathrooms. We have kept the décor to be sympathetic with the age of the property. While it is a guest house it is our family home too, so you will find a few bits and pieces from our time living abroad.
The house is built into the hillside of Sinai Hill so offers the most incredible sea views over to Wales and Exmoor to Countersbury Hill and Big Red. We have 8 rooms in total, 5 double rooms all en-suite, 1 twin room with en- suite and 2 single rooms with private toilets. The guest lounge is quiet and relaxing with a swap library, games cupboard, large comfy chairs and sofas where you can meet friends and make new ones!
The bar is very well stocked with local ales, ciders and a large selection of red wines. The bar has a nautical theme with many interesting pictures and talking points. There is a dart board for your use.
The dining room is very comfortable where all guests will be able to enjoy the views, tastefully decorated with a beautiful locally sourced marble fire place. Off the lounge and dining room is a large balcony where guests can sit out with a coffee or a jug of Pimms. The gardens a very secluded, terraced and lawned. The garden path wonders down to Bottom Meadow car park, so has easy access to walk into Lynton. To walk into Lynton, to the South West Coast Path and The Cliff Railway, takes about 4 minutes. We have a range of lovely eateries, restaurants, pubs and cafes. Lynton has a beautiful cinema, and lovely shops. A bank and a chemist, hopefully you won’t need it, but a brand new doctor’s surgery and cottage hospital!
Lynton, or ‘Little Switzerland’ is a beautiful rural small town, offering peace and tranquillity for all ages to enjoy. Where Exmoor meets the Sea!.
