When you first arrive in Lynton, obviously you will been looking at the immediate items around you and the first will be the Lynton and Lynmouth cliff railway which is an incredible Victorian cliff railway built in 1890, and which uses the very simple energy source of gravity (combined with water) to operate a long lasting and very ecologically friendly transport system! When you arrive in Lynmouth after using this marvellous device, you have so much to see and do that the day just slips by!

Of course, many of the visitors to North Devon’s famous Jurassic Coastline are walkers, whether serious or just weekend walkers. You can spend the entire holiday walking in and around Lynmouth and take in the opportunities offered by over 700 miles of footpaths and bridle ways on Exmoor. Whether you walk alone or in guided tours this is an experience not to be missed!

Of course for the car driver and the seasoned sightseer there is such an amount of sightseeing to do, whether taking in the ancient local towns through to visiting the Island of Lundy or even if you feel like a longer trip, dropping down to the Eden Project in Cornwall.

There are many outdoor activities which are catered for here, such as : golf, cycling, horse riding, shooting, fishing, boating, surfing, bird watching, canoeing, the list is endless and many of these are on the links above.
